Why are you changing to non-GMO potato chips?

Consumers increasingly want to know where their food comes from and how it is produced. Becoming Non-GMO Project Verified is driven by consumer demand for more transparency and Cape Cod’s continued focus on offering high-quality snacks.

 

Will you make all Cape Cod products non-GMO?

Yes, over the next two years. Cape Cod will transition to Non-GMO Project Verified for our original and reduced fat original kettle-cooked potato chips by the end of 2016.

 

Did the formula for the non-GMO Cape Cod chips change?

Cape Cod chips have always been made with simple, high-quality ingredients – hand-selected potatoes, oil and salt – and that has not changed. However, to ensure our supply of non-GMO oil can keep up with demand for our delicious kettle-cooked chips, Cape Cod will shift from using 100% canola oil to a blend of non-GMO oils, including canola oil and/or safflower and/or sunflower.

 

Why are you changing oils?

To be Non-GMO Project Verified, all of our ingredients need to be non-GMO, including oils, which means we need to broaden our sources to keep up with demand. Our solution is to shift from using 100% canola oil to a blend of non-GMO oils, including canola oil and/or safflower and/or sunflower.

 

Will the chips taste the same?

Absolutely. We did extensive testing to ensure our Cape Cod non-GMO chips will have the same great quality, taste and crunch you’ve come to enjoy.

 

Are your products safe for people with food allergies?

People allergic to sunflower seeds and oils will want to read the ingredients on our packaging carefully and consult with their doctors before eating any of our products containing them.

 

Does this also impact Cape Cod popcorn?

Our Sea Salt and Roasted Black Garlic Cape Cod popcorn varieties are currently Non-GMO Project Verified and may contain a blend of non-GMO oils, including canola oil and/or safflower and/or sunflower. Be sure to carefully read the ingredients on our packaging for detailed information.
